Family and Matrimonial

Mending Hearts & Supporting Families

When families require legal guidance, one needs more than just a lawyer – one needs a partner who understands the emotional weight of the decisions to be made. At CHP, we have built our Family and Matrimonial Practice on this understanding. Our approach mirrors the Singapore Family Justice Courts' commitment to Therapeutic Justice, because we believe legal solutions should heal, not harm. From divorce proceedings to custody arrangements, we guide our clients with steady hands and caring hearts, always seeking paths to resolution that preserve family bonds where possible.

Our team brings a unique blend of professional skill and genuine empathy to every case. We understand that each family's story is unique, and we tailor our approach accordingly, whether through mediation or robust legal advocacy.

Notable Practice Highlights

  1. Represented a father in securing workable child access arrangements in a highly contentious child relocation application.
  2. Assisted a mother in obtaining child maintenance for her four children from an overseas father who deliberately withheld his income details.
  3. Represented an adult daughter in enforcing child maintenance orders arising from her parents’ divorce when she was a minor. We successfully argued that she could rely on and enforce the Divorce Order, despite not being a direct party to the proceedings, and defended her father’s appeal to the High Court on this matter.
  4. Represented a father in a child abduction case involving the unlawful removal of a child from Singapore to Malaysia, a non-signatory to the International Child Abduction Treaty. We successfully facilitated the child’s return to Singapore through collaboration with Malaysian counterparts.
  5. Negotiated a complex division of matrimonial assets, including offsetting certain payable amounts against child and spousal maintenance.
